Back in the Day...

When I was a teen/early adult I raced online. It was basicly my life. Everything took second place (no pun intended) to my online racing. I can credit my online racing and flying with my geekyness/skill fixing computers. Of course I didn't have alot of money when I was a kid and I would have to take below par hardware and make the racing simulators run.

A word about these sims, these sims were not games. I considered myself a gamer but these were simulators of real word racing. Dale Earnhardt Jr. raced in the same sim that I did/do to hone his skills. My wheel was forcefeedback, meaning that if I hit a bump on the track I could feel it in my wheel.

Another apsect of the sim was the paint shop.

No I'm not a fan of HP. This car is based on a Formula One car from '03. I'm thinking about painting an Apple car. Depends on my time.
Don't know if I'll get to race this baby much but it sure was fun painting it!

As I mentioned over at smays.com I think that Obama will transform the Chief Executive's website. Rather than a very static site with news releases that don't really connect to it's users instead it will be a very interactive website with press briefings on YouTube, blog posts from Obama, a podcast edition of his weekly radio address, or links to his MySpace or Facebook.

Sorry for the lack of posts. Didn't have anything to write about.

McCain not a geek

reports that Senator McCain is in the minority when it comes to senior citizens who are plugged in. While this isn't the reason I'm not voting for him it does show the difference between Obama and McCain. Obama said one thing he could do less of is check his blackberry. I mean how cool would it be to have a President during an economic summit thumbing thru his email.
Bush says he doesn't email because he's afraid that the press will get a hold of it. Maybe he is afraid of his grammar and spelling...Don't worry Dubya we already know what your IQ is.

Neil Armstrong first set foot on the moon. With that "small step for man, one giant leap for mankind" he changed the world. It didn't happen by accident, we just chose to go there. The words of a dead president who chose to aim high and goto the moon before the end of the decade. Neil, Buzz, and Mike I hope you celebrated you wonderful achievement today with your family and friends today. We are all better because of what you and the other half million other people did in the 60's.

Let's go back to the moon and head on to Mars.

I can't say I'm proud to watch this guy blend electronics. But Will it Blend is a great example of marketing on the web. I know anytime I think about getting a blender I want a blendtec blender.

I have realized over the past few days that I have been left behind. I didn't keep up with web technology. I feel like I am web 1.0. Blogger is such a great tool and I think it's about the coolest thing since sliced bread but I still find myself thinking in web 1.0 thinking.

I need to catch up.

Ready for School to start

I must be the weirdest person in the world but I'm excited for school to start. Sandra and I attend Columbia College Jefferson City campus. We took the summer off so we could rest after the house was done and I'm ready to go back.

Maybe it's because I'm ready to get my degree done so I can get a job that I love instead of just a job that pays the bills.

Maybe it's because I love to learn and school fullfills that need for me to learn.

Or maybe I'm just a dork.

I'll go with number three!

Flipping thru the channels tonight Sandra stumbled on Alf. It was a nice treat to watch a show that I watched as a child. It reminded me of all the TV shows I watched. Things like Major Dad, Knight Rider, and WKRP.

iPhone 3G

Today is the launch of the new Apple iPhone 3G (or iPhone 2.0). They are touting it as "twice the speed at half the price" $199 is within my budget but I think I'll wait a while before I go out a buy one. As I stated in my post yesterday I try not to be an early adopter of new software/hardware.

Maybe I should turn in my "Geek Card" but I just don't belive in being the first to get something. Steve Mays reports are plenty of people in Jefferson City standing in line for the new iPhone.

On top of it all 3g doesn't work at my house. It does in Jefferson City where I work and goto school. Maybe when it's time to upgrade my nano I'll just get an iPhone and upgrade my contract.

Sandra has been itching for a Blackberry so maybe we can upgrade togather and I can get my iPhone.

Firefox 3

I'm not normally an early adopter of software. I'd like to say it's because I'm savvy and know the first build usually has bugs, but it's because I'm lazy and don't really care. After listening to TWIT last week I downloaded Firefox 3.0 . I must say I like the overall layout, it reminds me alot of IE 7 which I'm a big fan of (as far as overall layout of buttons) The RSS live bookmarks are awesome as well. I haven't played with RSS before a few weeks ago and I like that to. Overall I'm happy with Firefox
